Dry Deluge Testing

Dry Deluge Testing is the leading, field proven technology that provides evidence for clients to extend the periods between mandatory wet deluge testing. Clearwater Fire have pioneered this game changing technology and have vast experience globally across a diverse range of assets, from fixed offshore platforms, FPSO’s and drilling rigs to onshore nuclear power stations.

This patented technology has been extensively field tested and is used offshore regularly around the world. Dry Deluge Testing offers the client the evidence and justification needed to prove to the HSE and other regulatory bodies that the deluge system remains in a fit for purpose condition.

Many operators are stuck in the cycle of repeated wet deluge testing on an increased frequency to meet the nozzle failure rate criteria rate set out in their Performance Standards. This will only exacerbate the build-up of corrosion scale within the deluge system and ultimately cause more issues long term. Not to mention an increase in degradation to plant and machinery due to corrosion under insulation.

With Siron Dry Deluge Testing used as part of a Deluge Integrity Management Plan, the operator can have complete justification to extend the periods between wet deluge testing out to 5 years or more potentially.

Dry Deluge Testing can be used on all pipework material types and has no limit on the size of the system that can be tested ie, carbon steel, CuNifer, duplex, stainless steel, titanium, flexible hose and fiberbond systems. Deluge systems remain live and online throughout the complete process.

Dry Deluge Testing has been awarded a Certificate of Attestation by Bureau Veritas UK Limited. No other method of dry testing is more efficient or more effective for identifying blockages/partial blockages to pipework and nozzles.

It is also the only available method to test each individual deluge nozzle without water and quickly identify blockages and damages, a common failure mode that directly affects the density application rates within the protected area.

Key benefits include:

•    Bureau Veritas Certificate of Attestation

•    Reduced cost with small rope access teams and compact equipment footprint

•    Deluge Systems remain live and online throughout the process

•    No requirement for water ingress protection

•    Deluge pipework remains dry mitigating corrosion

•    Blocked and partially blocked nozzles are quickly identified and remediated where possible

•    Damaged nozzles are quickly identified due to erroneous spray pattern
